So every time you go through the check out, you now have to formally state whether or not you want a plastic bag to carry your purchases home in. It used to be a foregone conclusion that you’d need one. But now conscientious people carry a cloth bag with them so as not to contribute to harming the environment. (more…)

When I was little my mom used to set aside one day a week to do her baking. Knowing what I know now, she really was an artist in that she turned out many wonderful loaves of bread, buns and cinnamon rolls, working without modern appliances and cooking with an oil stove. (more…)

The key to surviving hard times is to get to know and trust your neighbors. When you bake bread, make a few extra loafs to share. If you see a neighbor struggling, say repairing a roof, offer your help. Hmmm…sounds like living a Christian life, a life centered on serving each other. When the Saints have prospered, it has always been those Saints who selflessly took care of each other.
Christ is so magnificent! If we were to live as Christ desires us to live, Heavenly Father would lovingly and abundantly shower us with His tender mercies. Our joy is Their joy, Their joy is our reward.
